Description

Document Management System, DMS for short, allows your users to store external documents in Business Central. This feature allows for storage directly in Business Central.  

Recently we have added the functionality to chose Azure Blob Storage as the location. If you have been using DMS before you set up Azure Blob Storage, the documents will remain in BC database. However there is also an option to move the documents from BC database to Azure.

 

  • Keep several types of documents, such as technical sheets, photos, and others on the item level and per order.  
  • Create folder views.  
  • Customize which documents are shown on which page.  
  • Export documents in bulk, ex: all invoices from the past month.  
  • Determine permissions on how many documents each folder can contain. 
  • Set up an automatic archive option when adding an updated version of the document. 
  • Set up automatic folder and subfolder creation per year and per month, 
  • Choose between BC database or Azure Blob Storage
  • For Azure storage:
    • Create an Azure Storage Account
    • Secure the 2 Access Keys
