October is coming! What it means to you as a Partner and to your customers!

It is quite easy to slip into the summer lull and enjoy our summer breaks. After all, most of us in the northern hemisphere need to make the most of the good weather whilst we can!

When we head back to work at the end of August or early September, we could find ourselves in more unchartered waters as we face a new reality with being Microsoft Dynamics Resellers.

This autumn, the sense of urgency is compelling. Earlier this year, Microsoft announced a couple of main game-changers:

  • Universal Code Initiative (UCI)
  • Microsoft Cloud Partner Program (MCPP)

Universal Code Initiative (UCI) is a way to ensuring Business Central partners start developing solutions that will work on Business Central SaaS. To do so, Microsoft is bringing in fees (in the shape of new Modules to license), as a way of penalizing customers who don’t have Cloud-ready custom code. So, when a partner develops code outside of extensions, or when the code is not cloud-optimized, the customer will need to foot the bill! More importantly, this initiative starts with a technical enforcement in Q4 CY22, which means October to December this year!

Microsoft Cloud Partner Program (MCPP) was announced by Microsoft on March 16, 2022. This program will replace the current competencies available through the Microsoft Partner Network program (MPN). The deadline for the start of this new program, which will completely replace MPN, is October 1, 2022, and it includes a completely new structure and associated significant changes. The Solution Partner accreditations will be simplified from the current 18 competencies under MPN, to 6 solutions areas. One of these areas is Business Applications. Microsoft will use the “Partner Capability Scores” (PCS) to measure partners’ capabilities in each of these solution areas.
