Situation

Walkerscott’s customer had been running on quite old AX2009 version, which raised concerns due to the end-of-life support. The migration to Dynamics 365 was seen as crucial not only to address these concerns but also to ensure that their business operations could run smoothly on the latest and most up-to-date platform.

Why Walkerscott Chose Companial as their Migration Project Partner

In preparation for the Dynamics 365 F&SCM migration, Walkerscott identified the need to strategically augment its team to accelerate delivery and ensure project success. While Walkerscott brought strong expertise and experience in Dynamics 365 projects, partnering with Companial provided access to additional capacity and specialised skills at a critical point in the delivery timeline. This collaboration enabled Walkerscott to maintain focus on complex integration work while ensuring high standards across every stage of the project.

How the Migration Project Was Executed

After performing BestPath Assessment together with Companial to identify the most suitable approach for migrating customer’s on-premises ERP to the cloud, it was decided that migration approach suits customer requirements best.

To broaden the project team’s capabilities and accelerate delivery, Walkerscott strategically engaged Companial to support the migration workstream. With deep experience in Dynamics 365 F&SCM migrations, Companial was a strong fit to complement Walkerscott’s expertise and enhance the project team’s overall capacity. Leveraging Companial’s proven migration methodology, the project was executed in the following stages:

  • Code migration
  • Data migration
  • System stabilization (warranty periods)
  • Mock data migrations
  • Go-live

In order to prepare well for Go-live, multiple test data migrations, including mock data, were performed. Just a few years ago, Microsoft introduced a new data migration methodology to Azure, which necessitates careful and comprehensive preparation for a successful Golive. As Microsoft officially supports core data migration only, and full data migration is not supported at all, the extensive experience and expertise of Companial enabled Walkerscott to successfully perform a full data migration from AX2009 to D365.
