CSP Legacy to New Commerce Experience (NCE) Migration

Thursday, December 21, 2023
Reading time: 2 minutes

Microsoft initiates the migration of CSP legacy seat-based subscriptions to the CSP new commerce experience (NCE). This change involves migrating all legacy subscriptions to an annual term and maintaining the same billing plan and seat count. The migration will occur on the subscription renewal date, starting from January 11th, 2024, for commercial offers and July 2024 for public sector offers.

Why Is This Migration Significant?

The move to NCE brings about fixed subscription periods and a stringent cancellation policy, differing notably from the flexibility of the CSP legacy.

Key Recommendations for a Smooth Transition:

  • Don’t wait for the renewal date to start planning. Begin assessing your legacy subscriptions and mapping them to new commerce product SKUs.
  • Engage with your customers to help them grasp the NCE terms, discuss their plans, and decide on the subscription term, billing plan, and seat count.
  • Executing license migration per your schedule. This gives you more control and flexibility, allowing you to operate on your own schedule and address any potential issues proactively.

The transition to Microsoft’s CSP new commerce experience represents a significant step for all involved parties. By thoroughly understanding the details of the Microsoft-led migration and adopting a proactive approach, you can ensure a seamless and efficient transition for both your business and your clients.
